Troop Coordinator - Amanda Martin
Welcome to AHG! I am 34 and live in Glendale. My husband and I have been together for 20 years, married for 13. I have a 10 year old son (Johnathan) who has been in Trail Life for 3 years and a 12 year old girl (Lillia) who has been in AHG for 4 years. My degree is in teaching, but I left teaching to be a homemaker when my daughter was born. I currently work 2 days a week at my children's school and volunteer a ton (PTA board, American Heritage Girls, and most recently a flag football coach) and love it!!! I have been a member of AHG for 4 years and have served in a variety of positions including Explorer & Tenderheart Leader, Leader Coordinator, Troop Coordinator, Regional Summer Camp Program Director, Regional Summer Camp Director, and AHG National Sounding Board Committee. I LOVE everything about AHG and what is does for girls, and I look forward to serving the girls and families of AHG AZ1320! My favorite Bible verse is Numbers 6:24-26.
Troop Leadership
Dear Volunteers,

We would like to start by thanking you from the bottoms of our hearts for the time and sacrifice you have given to make the AHG Troop AZ1320 an amazing success and benefit for the girls! Your willingness to spend countless hours out of your busy lives to impact even one girl, much less an entire troop of girls, is to be commended. You have graciously demonstrated your desire to fulfill the Lords calling to “use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms” (1 Peter 4:10), and for that we are eternally grateful!

During the 2017-2018 AHG Program Year, you will be interacting with many girls and adults both inside and outside the troop from all over the Phoenix metro-area, the state of Arizona, and even the AHG Southwest region. You have all chosen to serve the troop, its girls, their families, the church community of our charter, and the community at large as Unit Leaders, Assistant Leaders, parent volunteers, and Troop Specialists, and with this choice to serve comes great responsibility. Please remember that we are role model to each and every one of these girls no matter how much or little direct interaction we have with them. They see us and how we treat each other and the others girls, how we react to challenges, and how we demonstrate the love and mercy of God in everything we do. This is why it is our duty and responsibility to uphold the rules of the troop at all times, to adhere to our KEYS training, and maintain the AHG policies and procedures in all that we do. It is our duty to show these girls what women (and men) of integrity really look and act like.

You are all wonderful and dedicated mothers, fathers, family members, church members, volunteers, and now AHG veterans. We know that you will do all in your power to positively encourage and guide these girls to uphold the AHG Oath and Creed, to seek the Lord in all matters, and to make Troop AZ1320 THE BEST EVER!

Thank you again for your time and dedication to giving these girls the AHG experience of a lifetime.

In Christ’s Love,
2017-2018 AHG Troop AZ1320 Board

Meet the Board

Assistant Troop Coordinator - Bridget Davis

Assistant Troop Treasurer - Cecily Challis
Hello! My name is Cecily Challis, and I am 62 years old. My husband Terry and I have been married 6 years, but we have known each other over 45 years. We met in junior high school! Right after we got married, we adopted his 4 grandchildren. We have 5 children between us, 11 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. My college degree is in Business Administration with an emphasis in Human Resources. I am a graduate of Grand Canyon University. I worked for State Farm Insurance for 32 years, mostly as a claim representative. I retired in 2012. I was drawn to AHG through my church, First Baptist Church of Glendale. I was very interested in the program because of my own experience in Brownies, Girl Scouts and Camp Fire Girls. I remember those were the happiest times I had when growing up. I pray that the girls we serve in this program will find the same happiness. I have volunteered in many areas throughout my life, both in the church and in my career. My favorite Bible verse is Phillipians 4:13.
